Wildlife Touring by Jeep in Kaziranga National Park, India
The rhino calf lay sound asleep next to its mother, who was busy grazing not more than 20 feet from the road. This mother and calf were just two of the many Indian one-horned rhinoceros we saw during our time in Kaziranga National Park.On another drive we rounded a corner to find a huge male standing in the middle of the road, luckily a bit further ahead. He turned and left but stayed in the streambed paralleling the road, giving us several more good views as we rounded the next corner.

Swimming with Minke Whales on the Great Barrier Reef
We float in the water, holding onto ropes tied to the boat, not moving. One by one the whales appear, drifting up from the dark below.
We are swimming with dwarf minke whales on the Great Barrier Reef. But this is a swim with whales program with a twist. The whales themselves started it, and they control it.

Watching Andean Condors Fly Again at Paileman, Argentina
I scanned the top of the cliff one last time. Finally, there was movement. The young condor was making its way along the ridge using its monstrously long wings (a condor’s wingspan can be more than 10 feet) as an extra pair of legs, or perhaps crutches. No, he was begging.
Wildlife Viewing in Funky Cabo Polonio on the Coast of Uruguay
The chill wind cutting through my jacket and the steely sky overhead did not bode well for our 20 minute ride in an open dune buggy to the hotel. Worse yet, the dune buggy’s hood was up, and our driver was busily banging away at whatever ailed the beast.
Luckily, the rain held off and the hood came down. Ten minutes later we were on our way. We reached Cabo Polonio in time for a quick, brisk walk on the beach before dark.
